How do Copper Ions and Oxidation Purify Water?
Copper Ionization was first developed by NASA in 1967 for the Apollo Space Program, to provide pure water for our astronauts in space and prevent scaling in their water systems. Copper Ions in your water will do 3 things:
  1. Cleaner water: Copper ions are very effective at killing germs, bacteria, algae and viruses.
  2. Residuals: Copper Ions are recognized as residual sanitizers by the National Sanitation Foundation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This means they will remain lethal to germs and bacteria in your water for 7-10 days after leaving the chamber.
  3. Softer Water: The charged ions will change calcium to a softer bicarbonate form, which prevents the formation of scale. They will also eliminate any existing scale by encouraging any hardened mineral deposits to go back into solution. Superior to a water softener, ECOsmarte® Water will increase the life of water heaters, coffee makers, dishwashers, ice makers, washing machines, plumbing, plus pool and spa equipment, but with no corrosive salt or potassium and no environmentally harmful brine discharge.

Oxidation
Ecosmarte® circuitry transforms the power to low D.C. voltage and low amperage on its titanium electrodes, which will temporarily split the water molecule into it’s components This will cause spontaneous formation of Hydroxyl radicals, Oxygen, Hydrogen Peroxide, Atomic Oxygen and Ozone. To give a comparison of oxidizing potential, if chlorine is the benchmark, then ozone is exponentially more effective than chlorine and ECOsmarte® technology is exponentially more powerful than chlorine. This superior Oxidation process eliminates organic contaminants in your house or pool water.
